So I’m reading through the draft of my first academic publication, which is dense enough that one screen’s worth of text corresponds very nicely with the time it takes to eat a sandwich. This is great because I tend to make big messy sandwiches which make reading print material impossible, and scrolling a pain in the ass. So I thought to myself, why not use a footswitch for scrolling and window navigation so I can read any eBook, RSS, or other electronic content while I eat a sandwich? And then I remembered.. sandwiches originally became popular because they allowed aristocrats to eat something that was neat enough that they could still play cards.
