While I’m waiting for my coffee, I’d like to take this opportunity say, environmentalist sentiments aside, how much I hate paper. I have more worksheets than I’ve thought imaginable in recent years strewn all over my desk and can’t organize them with hashtags. Perhaps I could get some physical folders, but what if something belongs in more than one folder? Do I have to make a photocopy to put in the second folder? Printer is officially right up there next to automobile and house on the things I want to avoid owning as long as fucking possible list.

I write the above rant somewhat facetiously but on a serious note this is giving an up close and personal view of the benefits of digitizing data. I didn’t check a single book out of the library in all of college and would probably find it an inconvenience to do any kind of research from a non-electronic source. I would guess that most important/mainstream information is digitized somewhere but because I like finding obscure/unimportant things (mostly obscure music, but a fair bit of art, and other things too) on the internet I wonder how much stuff (obscure magazines, books, vinyl, etc. that might be interesting) will be all but lost because no one has the incentive/time to digitize it.
